CABANATUAN CITY – Two policemen from the National Capital Region are now in hot water for alleged indiscriminate firing of their service firearms in Barangay Calabasa, Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija on Saturday.

The suspects were identified as Corporal Lawrence Natividad of Novaliches, Quezon City and Patrolman Rephidim Orozco, of Tondo, Manila who were detailed at Manila Police District Community Precinct and the National Capital Region Police Office, respectively.

Reports said the duo were arrested upon complaints from barangay chair Isagani Sibayan who told authorities that the cops, without provocation, repeatedly fired their weapons at about 10:30 a.mSaturday.

The rookie policemen were reportedly visiting relatives in the village.

Responding policemen disarmed the suspects. At least eight spent shells were recovered from the crime scene by investigators, police said.

Central Luzon police director Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon said the two cops were subjected to a paraffin test while administrative and criminal complaints are being readied for filing against them.

He said they would never condone such misdemeanor and appropriate charges will be filed against them, both administrative and criminal.”
