CABANATUAN CITY – Two persons were nabbed for alleged illegal possession of firearms in separate police operations in Nueva Ecija on June 13, police belatedly reported on Wednesday.
The suspects were identified as Sammy Erese, 33, a mechanic from Purok 3 Barangay San Alejandro, Quezon, and Billy Joe Sta. Maria, 23, farmer of Barangay Kaingin, Bongabon, both in Nueva Ecija.
Aside from a .38 revolver with live bullets, Erese also yielded 12 sachets of shabu weighing 1.3 grams worth P8,840 during the search conducted on the strength of a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 33 of Guimba, police said.
The search on Sta. Maria’s house that resulted to the seizure of one .38 revolver was conducted based on a warrant from the RTC Branch 7 of Palayan City.
“The implementation of search warrants and other anti-criminality operations have been aggressive for the purpose of eradicating criminal activities and ensuring peace and order in the province of Nueva Ecija,” said Col. Richard Caballero, Nueva Ecija police director.
Both suspects were charged with violations of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
Erese also faces charges for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
