2 nabbed, 2 hunted for firing gun at police office

CABANATUAN CITY A call center agent and a cohort were arrested while two others are being hunted for indiscriminate firing at the Nueva Ecija police provincial office in Barangay Zangitan West here at about 11:20 p.m. Thursday.

City police chief Lt. Col. Arnel Dial said call center agent Patrick Luna, 32, resident of Caridad Villageand Eisenhower Maldia, 25, of Burgos Ave., both of this city, were arrested by responding personnel of the 1st provincial maneuver force company (1PMFC).

The two other suspects, Kenneth Puno of Barangay Magsaysay Norte and a still unidentified companion eluded arrest, police said.

Investigation disclosed the suspects were on board a sedan (license plate FJE 929) when they reportedly “fired successive shots using a short firearm at the corner of Burgos Ave. and Consejo St, which was outside the 1PMFC station.

“Then roamed around the vicinity of Nueva Ecija police provincial office and fired another shots (sic),” an investigation report showed.

The suspects were under influence of liquor, police said.

Seized from the suspects were a .40 caliber pistol, 61 live bullets and the car. 

Forensic investigators recovered five spent shells from the place of incident.

The suspects were charged for illegal discharge of firearms, alarm and scandal, and violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Law) as well as violation of Article 151 of Revised Penal Code or resistance and disobedience to a person in authority and Republic Act 11332.
