ANGELES CITY – Two more Holy Angel University (HAU) professors have been charged before the Department of Justice (DOJ) in connection with the alleged abuse of a former student here.

Rose (not her real name) and her parents through their legal counsel, Atty. Jeffrey Zarate, on February 13 filed coercion and child abuse complaints under RA 7160 against HAU professors Andy Sanchez and Eleanor Torres. The complaint  is docketed as XVI-INV-09B-00113.

The complainants earlier field a complaint for multiple counts of rape and qualified seduction against Arnel Atienza Ocampo, an English professor of HAU.

Angelita Ayson of the HAU personnel department, who was tasked to speak on behalf of the school, said she was “not aware of the charges” filed against Sanchez and Torres.” She added that she was “only aware of the charges against Ocampo.”

“We don’t know if there are such cases because we haven’t received a copy of the charge sheet yet. Besides, they were charged individually and not HAU,” she said.

Asked to comment about Ocampo, Ayson said they have “just consulted their lawyers regarding the matter.” She added that Ocampo had attended his classes on Friday and “I will check if he will come to his classes tonight (yesterday).”

Ayson said they have not contacted the parents of Rose. She added that they have not suspended or sacked Ocampo.

Sanchez and Torres are co-professors of  Ocampo. Sanchez was the head of the anti-sexual harassment body of the school tasked to look into the sexual harassment case filed by Rose’s family against Ocampo last year.

Rose said Sanchez and Torres connived with Ocampo to “whitewash the sexual harassment case” against the latter.

“On September 2008, I was eating in the food court when another lady teacher, whose name I cannot remember, approached and brought me to the union office again. Waiting for me inside were respondents

Sanchez, Torres and Ocampo. They  cautioned me about repercussions that the case may bring me and asked if I could actually defend my side. They asked me if I will appear in the hearings, I replied by asking “what’s best?,” said Rose in her complaint affidavit.

“They said it would be best if I did attend and said that nothing happened. Hence, due to their (Sanchez and Torres) coercion, I was forced to lie and conceal the abuses of Ocampo in the hearing,” she added.

Rose, in her charge sheet, said Ocampo had used a sex video of their intimate moments to blackmail her. She added that the suspect allegedly raped her at least 25 times in the span of two years.
