2 Garcias, Roman unopposed in Bataan

BALANGA CITY –Based on the certified list of candidates released Saturday by the provincial, municipal, and city election offices of the Commission on Elections in Bataan, there are two Garcia siblings and one Roman who will be running unopposed in the May 2022 national and local elections.

These candidates are considered as the “lucky ones” being the lone candidates who filed their certificates of candidacy in the positions they aspired for.

Without any registered rival in his quest for the governorship is incumbent 2nd District Rep. Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III while his brother, Balanga City Mayor Francis Garcia is also unopposed in his bid for a third and last term as city chief executive.

It will also be a solo reelection run for 1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman.

Joet is switching position with brother Gov. Albert “Abet” Garcia, with their third and final term ending in 2022.

Abet faces Eliza Ann Roque of Promdi for the 2nd District seat while sister third termer Dinalupihan Mayor Maria Angela “Gila” Garcia who will be running for the newly created 3rd congressional district of Bataan has for rival Anthony Galorpo of Partido Demokratiko Sosyalista ng Pilipinas.

Under the 3rd District are the towns of Dinalupihan, Bagac, Morong and Mariveles. In the first district are Hermosa, Orani, Samal, and Abucay while comprising the second district are Balanga City, Pilar, Orion. and Limay.

The Garcias’ first cousin Vice Gov. Maria Cristina Garcia who is seeking reelection for her second term is opposed by independent Ronil Castro and Joemel Pugma.
