ORANI, Bataan- Two workers died when the service tricycle they were riding collided with an incoming Mazda van at the Roman Superhighway in this town Friday before midnight.
Insp. Albert Manabat, Orani deputy police chief for operations, said service tricycle driver Nelson Garcia, 43, single, died on the spot while his passenger Mario dela Rosa, 32, married, died at the Bataan General Hospital in Balanga City.
The victims were workers of a water drilling company and were on the way home for Barangay Pagalanggang, Dinalupihan. Two minor passengers aged 4 and 11 years of the Mazda van sustained slight injuries. The van came from Gabaldon, Nueva Ecija with seven passengers.
“Magkasalubong at nagbanggaan sa highway ang tricycle at van na ikinamatay ng dalawang sakay ng tricycle,” Manabat said. Both the van and the tricycle suffered major damages. Relatives of the fatalities said the van owner promised to shoulder funeral and other expenses. Van driver Junio Santos remained at-large.
The Orani police is still in the process of investigation.
