ABUCAY, Bataan — Two died while one was declared under critical condition when the car they were riding in crashed on the trunk of a narra tree along the side of the Roman Highway here Thursday afternoon at the height of the rains brought about by Typhoon Ulysses.
Major Leopoldo Estorque, Jr., Abucay police chief, said car driver Kurt Billy Sebastian, 22, of Sta. Elena, Orion, Bataan and passenger Ruben Vivas, 19, of Mabatang, Abucay died on the spot due to the strong impact of the crash.
Another passenger, Eduardo Fajardo, of Sta. Elena, Orion, was in serious condition and rushed to the Bataan General Hospital in Balanga City.
Estorque said the car was travelling towards the direction of Balanga City from Abucay when it allegedly tried to overtake another vehicle from the right portion of the highway.
Apparently, he said, the driver lost control of the wheel and swerved to the road shoulder and hit the tree.
The police chief said it was raining at that time.
“Ako’y nananawagan bilang hepe dito sa bayan ng Abucay sa lahat ng ating motorista na lalo na kung madulas ang kalsada dahil umulan ay dapat na mag-ingat sila sa kanilang pagmamaneho kasi unang-una hindi natin masasabi ang aksidente kung kailan mangyayari,” Estorque said.
“Ang hinihiling ko lang ay ibayong pag-iingat. Huwag masyadong matulin at dapat mayroong mga speed limit lang. Sana sumunod tayo para maiwasan ulit ang ganitong klaseng trahedya,” he added.
Estorque said they were still investigating the accident.
