ANGELES CITY – The Angeles City 4-Wheelers Club Inc. in cooperation with the city government will hold the 1st Mayor “Pogi” Lazatin Jr.’s 4×4 Cup on October 8-9, as part of the Fiestang Kuliat festivities.
The joint tourism and motorsports event is expected to be participated by more than 100 offroad enthusiasts not only in Pampanga province but in the Luzon area.
Edison Patio Dungca, president of the Angeles City 4-Wheelers Club Inc. (AC4WCI), said offroad events traditionally attract well-known 4×4 personalities and enthusiasts from all over the country and have made Angeles City a major offroad destination since the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo.
Dungca said there will be four categories in the offroad events: Extreme with P50,000 for the 1st Prize, P20,000 (2nd), and P10,000 (3rd); Open with P30,000 (1st Prize), P10,000 (2nd), and P5,000 (3rd); Big with P30,000 (1st Prize), P10,000 (2nd), and P5,000 (3rd); and Small with P30,000 (1st Prize), P10,000 (2nd), and P5,000 (3rd). Entry fees are: P3,500 for the Extreme, and P2,500 for the Open, Big and Small categories.
Dungca, along with 4×4 event committee head Lejan Perez, AC4WCI chairman Noel Castro, Ric Balatbat, and other members held discussions on the offroad event met with Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. on Thursday at the Mayor’s Office. Also present were city administrator Willy Rivera and city information officer Atty. Raphaela Kercee Vendel Lazatin.
The AC4WCI partnered with the city government in staging the first Abacan Off Road Rally in 1993. The group also took an active role in the Philippine Hot Air Balloon Fiesta at the Clark Freeport Zone since its inception in 1994, retrieving hot air balloons after they landed.
