BALANGA CITY (PIA) — About 1,000 students of Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) received P5,000 cash each under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Senator Imee Marcos distributed the aid with Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III, Vice Governor Cris Garcia and officials from BPSU and DSWD.
In her message, she outlined that the aid aims to help financially struggling students and individuals with their educational expenses.
“Supporting our students is not just an investment; it is the cornerstone of a prosperous future. Let’s join hands, ensure we have chosen wisely, and empower the leaders of tomorrow,” Marcos stressed.
She also expressed hope that the assistance will inspire students to strive for success in their chosen fields.
Meanwhile, BPSU President Ruby Matibag expressed gratitude for the assistance, acknowledging the Senator’s inclusion of the state university in her educational support initiative.
Governor Garcia likewise extended gratitude and recognition to the Senator for giving importance and support to the education of students in the province.
In addition to aiding BPSU students, Senator Marcos distributed P3,000 cash assistance to 1,500 solo parents from 11 towns and one city, along with 1,000 children in Dinalupihan under the Pamaskong Handog program.
The AICS program functions as a crucial social safety net, offering support to individuals and families facing unexpected crises like illness, death, natural disasters, and other critical situations. It encompasses various forms of aid, including medical, burial, educational, transportation, and food assistance. (CLJD/RPQ-PIA 3)
