BALANGA CITY – Bataan on Wednesday launched its online provincial portal while at the same time entered into a memorandum of agreement with JobStreet.com that made it the first province in the country to have partnership with what is considered as the No. 1 jobsite in the Philippines.

Gov. Albert S. Garcia said that with the launching of www. 1bataan.com, the province will have a venue in the cyberspace for connectivity, creativity and collaboration among Bataenos locally and worldwide. The governor noted what he termed as unprecedented unity among all sectors being enjoyed in Bataan after the national, local and barangay elections. “Napakaganda ng samahan kahit na sa larangan ng pulitika,” he said.

Garcia expressed high hope that “onebataan portal” will further strengthen this unity. With “1bataan,” Bataenos
will work together as one, he said. “Ito ang sagot sa pagkauhaw sa impormasyon tungkol sa nangyayari sa Bataan sapagka’t 24/7 ay meron nang access sa impormasyon lalo na sa panahon ng kalamidad,” the young governor added.

Aside from delivering latest developmental news around the province about investments, employment, health,
education, environment, tourism, social welfare, agriculture and many others, the portal will serve as feedback mechanism that encourages users to share their ideas, suggestions, business and job opportunities, public service announcements and advisory including photos, videos and even blog about Bataan.

“1bataan” will connect Bataenos to each other, giving each other free information,” said JobStreet.com country
manager Grace Colet. She signed a MOA with the governor on a job site powered by JobStreet.com that can
be accessed via www.1bataan. com/jobs. A career page will house job ads posted by Bataan-based employers both large and small-medium enterprises, Colet said.

“Sa proyektong ito, ang ‘onebataan portal’ sa tulong ng JobStreet.com ay magiging isang virtual market place for employment na maglalapit sa mga job seekers at employers,” the governor said. Rep. Enrique Garcia, Vice-
Gov. Efren Pascual, Jr., members of the provincial Board and Mayors Jose Enrique Garcia III of Balanga City, Antonio Raymundo of Orion, Alice Pizarro of Pilar, Virgilio Roque of Limay, Jesse Concepcion of Mariveles and Gila Garcia of Dinalupihan were among the provincial and municipal officials who witnessed the launching and MOA signing.

Representatives from the academe, business, non-governmental organizations, police and other sectors also witnessed the big event.
