CLARK FREEPORT – A total of 150 passengers left the Clark International Airport here on board an AirAsia flight at around 8:30 a.m. today (May 4) forDavao City.

The Davao City government said it sponsored a sweeper flight – Clark to Davao/Davao to Clark to bring home stranded overseas Filipino workers and leisure travelers.

Teri Flores, spokesperson of the Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD) which operates and maintains CRK, said the passengers who left this morning were Davao residents stranded in Central Luzon because of the suspension of travel due to the enhanced community quarantine.

Flores said the return flight to CRK will have 40 passengers arriving from Davao at 2 p.m. also today.

The passengers who left Clark were part of 562 Davawenyos stranded in Luzon since the travel by land, sea and air was suspended in mid-March to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

On Wednesday, a Cebu Pacific 400-seater aircraft will bring home the rest of the stranded passengers from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Mania.

The sweeper flights, both paid for by the City Government of Davao, will also carry stranded passengers back to Clark and Manila but those who would leave the city are reminded that they must present health certificates and letter of acceptance from their respective local government units to ensure that they would be allowed entry into their provinces.

Meanwhile, passengers from Clark and Manila would be subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine before they would be allowed to return home to their families.

Those who want to board the sweeper flights to Clark and Manila  must send their names, birthday, sex, mobile numbers, and email addresses to Davao City Stranded Persons Database Center’s text-only hotlines such as 0956-2441691 and 0951-0868056 or through email at davaocitystrandedpax@gmail.com.
