RDC secretary and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) OIC-assistant regional director Greg Pineda said “the Sectoral Committee on Economic Development chaired by Bataan Gov. Albert Garcia passed resolutions seeking to adopt policy alternatives and advocacy options to reduce the cost of electricity in the region and inclusion of social responsibility aspect in the development of Clark Green City.”
He also said the Sectoral Committee on Infrastructure Development, chaired by Zambales Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane, was able to review the existing policy of Motor Vehicle User’s Charge and endorsed big-ticket projects including the new terminal for Clark International Airport (CIA) and the Bulacan Bulk Water Supply Project.
The Sectoral Committee on Development Administration, chaired by Tarlac Gov. Victor Yap, was able to pass resolutions recommending the proposed budgets of line agencies.
And lastly, the Sectoral Committee on Social Development, chaired by Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda, passed resolutions supporting the advocacies of the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Philippine Commission on Women among others.
“The committee has also looked into fast tracking the relocation of informal settler families in the Manila Bay area, preparation of the region for the implementation of Senior High School, and the plight of indigenous peoples,” ARD Pineda said further.
On their last full council meeting last Thursday, the RDC was able to pass three more resolutions that were endorsed by the Regional Project Monitoring Committee, which was chaired by NEDA regional director Severino Santos.
These are requesting the Department of Public Works and Highways to install weighbridges or weigh stations along MacArthur Highway, provide adequate traffic lights and warning signage also along MacArthur Highway, and replacement of existing steel road barriers along the Gapan-San Fernando-Olongapo Road with standard concrete road barriers particularly those fronting Robinsons Starmills and SM City Pampanga.
RDC 3 is the highest policy-making body in Central Luzon and serves as the counterpart of the NEDA Board at the subnational level.
It is the primary institution that coordinates and sets the direction of all economic and social development efforts in the region and serves as a forum where local efforts can be related and integrated with national development activities.
Council members include all governors, city mayors, municipal mayors of capital towns, presidents of municipal mayor’s league, regional directors of national government agencies and representatives from the private sector.
