CABANATUAN CITY – The city government indefinitely closed its assessor’s office Monday after an employee contracted Covid-19 last week as a precautionary measure against the spread of the disease.
The government will just make an announcement when the office resumes operations, it said.
This developed as at least 13 border control checkpoints were established in Nueva Ecija’s entry and exit points upon approval of the provincial inter-agency task force.
Reports said that Central Luzon police director Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon and Nueva Ecija police chief Col. Jaime Santos recommended the establishment of border controls amid the spike in Covid-19 cases, including the United Kingdom variant, in Metro Manila and other provinces.
On top of border control points, the PNP has also set up 20 quarantine control points inside the province, according to NE–IATF.
As of March 22, only two of Nueva Ecija’s five cities and 27 towns had zero active Covid -19 cases. They were the northeastern-most municipalities of Nampicuan and Talugtog.
This city which has a daytime population of one million people had the highest at 55, followed by Gapan City with 42.
