THE PHILHEALTH Region III represented by Vice President Walter Waway Bacareza signed a deed of donation with the Angeles City National Trade School and the Calulut Integrated Senior High School under the stewardship of the Department of the Education (DepEd) Region III on June 13 at PhilHealth regional office in the City of San Fernando.
The two public schools were chosen beneficiaries of Phil- Healths vehicle, motorcycle, IT equipment, air-conditioning units and office equipment.
This is the first major donation project of PhilHealth to DepEd. Instead of selling these used vehicles, computers, aircon units and other properties, we might as well donate it to put it to good use and benefit the students of Central Luzon, Bacareza explains.
According to PhilHealth disposal committee, almost P9-million acquisition value will be given to the said public schools.
It is PhilHealths way of giving back and making a big difference, as the transferred properties will aid to improve the quality of teaching and promote good education to students.
We have nationwide projects with DepEd that made an impact like the Hand-Washing and Dental Care program. Five years ago, we launched the Oplan Suyod this project aims to strengthen awareness and make sure that every student has a PhilHealth,  Bacareza shares.
He said that as per survey, causes of absenteeism are due to poverty, toothache and health reasons. Thats why it is very important to disseminate the information of all the PhilHealth benefi t programs to lessen absenteeism. In PhilHealth Region III, all health problems pushing people to poverty are being addressed. It transcends from providing not only universal health care coverage to shaping also the future of our youth.
“Rest assured the partnership of PhilHealth and DepEd will continue through the years. And it starts today with this first major donation project,” Bacareza further added.
