IBA, Zambales – Twelve tourists from the National Capital Region were arrested by elements of the provincial police on Sunday while roaming around the vicinity of Mount Tapulao at Sitio Dampay, Barangay Salaza, Palauig town.
A report from Zambales police director Col. Romano V. Cardiño said that at about 6 p.m. of March 28, he Palauig Municipal Police Station received a mobile call from a concerned citizen that there was a “group of persons roaming around Mount Tapulao,” a famous tourist spot of Zambales.
The group came on board a Nissan Grandia, metallic gray color, with plate no. NDJ-4607.
Upon investigation, the tourists failed to show documents prescribed by the IATF with regards to health protocols and other requirements from the NCR Bubble Plus to travel to nearby provinces.
Those arrested for violation of IATF-prescribed quarantine protocols were identified as Carlo Jay Miranda y Salvo, 34, of Sta Rosa, Laguna; Ian Cuevas y Genova, 24, of Cabuyao, Laguna; Mark Jason Somanon y Arnuza, 24, of Sta Rosa, Laguna; Maynard Cabrera y Armada, 24, of Valenzuela City; Ferdinand Cabangbang Jr. y Lomangaya, 25, of Taytay, Rizal; Kevin Enrera y Pecayo, 28, of Quezon City; Jericho Dacanay y Pangilinan, 27, of Pasig City; Dianne Encontro y Pergin, 30, of Quezon City; Jaeydaen Torroliza y Castillo, 22, of Navotas City; Mark Labuguin y Dayos, 26, of Caloocan City; Eldon Plaza y Reario, 24, of Las Piñas City; and Kevin Gapilango, 25, of Parañaque City.
The tourists are now in the temporary custody of Palauig PNP facing charges for violation of Article 151 (Disobedience) under the Revised Penal Code, RA 11332 in relation to violation of Executive Order NO. 05, Series of 2021 (Section 3) of the Provincial Ordinance No. 3020-41 (Section 1).
Cardiño said “The Zambales PNP is one with the provincial and municipal government offices in the task to control the spread of the deadly coronavirus through the full implementation of the law and making violators answerable for any break of conduct.“
