CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Zambales, including Olongapo City, will experience power outages lasting 11 hours today, May 29, and this Saturday, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippine (NGCP) announced yesterday.
NGCP public affairs chief Lilibeth Gaydowen said the 11-hour power interruption will affect customers of the Zambales Electric Cooperative (Zameco) in Iba and Candelaria from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“Also, parts of Zameco I and II covering Taugtog, Subic, Castillejos, San Miguel, San Narciso, and San Felipe in Zambales shall be experiencing momentary interruptions from 7 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.,” she said. She noted, however, that in some areas, the power outages would last only from 5:45 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Gaydowen said the power outages are part of the “annual preventive maintenance and testing of power transformer and its associated equipment at Botolan Substation.
In Olongapo City, a seven-hour power interruption is slated on Saturday, June 1.
“Customers of Olongapo City Public Utility Department will experience brown-out from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.,” Gaydowen said.
She added “this is also for annual maintenance and testing of power transformer and its associated equipment at Olongapo Substation.”
“Normal operations will immediately resume after work completion in the affected areas,” Gaydowen assured consumers.
