CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – SM City Pampanga, known as the longest SM Supermall in the country, has awarded its homegrown tenants on Friday as part of celebrating its 10th anniversary from November 12 to December 4.
It also awarded mall employees who won in a photo essay contest and recognized government and non-government partners for “a decade of support and friendship.”
“Through our mall partnerships for various local events and projects, reinforced with the efforts of SM Foundation, and, in the latter years, the SM Supermalls, SM Cares program, we have committed ourselves to be a partner in community building here in Pampanga and throughout the Philippines,” said Cesar Bondoc, SM supermalls regional operations manager.
“Our gratitude, too, to our homegrown tenants who have given their trust in SM’s goal not only to bring in goods to this area but also to support and promote local products – Kapampangan’s crafts and cuisine – and contribute to the growing economy. We are proud to have you with us,” he added.
Angeles University Foundation Performing Arts serenaded local officials, mall tenants and guests with “Atin Kupung Singsing”, “Anyang Malati Ku” and other Kapampangan songs.
SM City Pampanga’s 24-day celebration will include exhibits from local and national Kapampangan artists like Vicente Manansala, food festival and cooking demonstrations, OK Musika concert which will render an all-Kapampangan original songs and compositions. IMAarti, a group of young singers and local artists, will also perform a stage play on November 28.
The mall’s major activity will be the staging of a film festival at SM Cinema 6 led by international and multi-awarded director, Brillante Mendoza. Among his Indi films include Lola, manoro, Kaleldo and Foster Child.
SM City Pampanga, the 5th largest SM Supermall, has been the venue of the 1st computerized Giant Lantern Festival held on December 16, 2000.
The mall also holds the record for being the longest mall in the country with a kilometer stretch.
It is also the biggest mall in Central Luzon with more than 820 meters of mall shopping area.
The establishment of SM City Pampanga, like SM City Clark, has created thousands of jobs for local folk.
