ANGELES CITY — Some 1,011 Angeleño boys underwent free circumcision from the program of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.

Dubbed as “Magpatuli para Pogi,” the city’s operation tuli was conducted at the six Rural Health Units starting last June 18, 2024, supervised by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel with City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra and Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles.

“Inaanyayahan ko po ang mga magulang na ipatuli na ang kanilang mga anak. Ito po ay libre at pawang mga professional doctors, at nurses po ang magtutuli,” Lazatin said.

The free circumcision will run until July 18, 2024.

Out of the 1,011 — 105 kids had their free circumcision in RHU 1; 197 in RHU 2; 136 in RHU 3; 183 in RHU 4; 199 in RHU 5; and 190 in RHU 6.

Further, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel said that the kids who undergone free circumcision received a home care kits which include Vitamin C supplements and medicines for the circumcision.

Thirty midwives, nurses, and doctors from CHO led the operation ‘tuli’, scheduling 50 kids to be circumcised per day in each RHU.

To recall, a total of 2,705 kids benefitted from the free circumcision program in 2023 and 3,228 kids in 2022.

The free circumcision program was first launched in Angeles City during the stint of Mayor Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin from 2002 to 2007.
