TARLAC CITY (PIA) — About 100 farmers and potential entrepreneurs in San Clemente, Tarlac attended a series of seminars on entrepreneurship.

Participants from 12 barangays of the municipality were gathered and trained by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) to further develop and enhance their knowledge in putting up and sustaining a business.

DTI OIC-Provincial Director Florencia Balilo explained that the training aims to equip farmers with entrepreneurial skills as they venture into business.

“In line with the production technology and food processing training conducted by the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), it is also important for our farmers to have a know-how on the basics of entrepreneurship,” she noted.

The four-day activity was organized in support of the Kabuhayang Patok Program of MAO which involves agricultural technologies and management as well as agro-enterprise development through food processing.

Among the topics discussed were rewards and risks of entrepreneurship, business opportunities, and characteristics of an entrepreneur.

The training was in line with the initiative of DTI Tarlac which provides free skills training to various sectors in the entire province.

It likewise supports and recognizes the role of the local entrepreneurs in generating employment, and spurring economic activity in the province. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
