ANGELES CITY—A 10-year-old boy was held by barangay officials after he tried to sell a .35 calibre snub nosed pistol to a woman in Barangay Sta. Veronica in Guimba, Nueva Ecija over the weekend.
A report reaching Camp Olivas said one Celia Macadangdang claimed that the boy, whose name was withheld, approached her while she was walking in Sta. Veronica last Saturday and offered the pistol which was wrapped in an old T-shirt.
The boy, an out-of-school youth, reportedly did not name a price but simply asked how much Macadangdang could offer for the pistol.
After refusing the boy’s offer, Macadangdang went to Sta. Veronica barangay chair Diosdado de la Cruz to report the incident.
The barangay official caught up with the boy who claimed that a certain Macmac had merely asked him to find a buyer for the gun.
Police later found out that Macmac was Mark Henry Abad, 23, of the same barangay. Abad was arrested by the police while the boy was turned over to social welfare personnel who said they would track down the boy’s parents for counseling.
