MARIVELES, Bataan — A oneyear old baby girl died at dawn on Saturday after her own father allegedly hit her with feeding milk bottle, the baby’s mother and grandmother related here on Sunday.

Catherine Vitualla, 21, a factory worker, said her livein- partner Joerdon Sallao, 22, jobless, admitted to her that he was the cause of the death of their daughter, Princess Mae Sallao, who was declared dead on arrival at the Maheseco Hospital here.

The couple is from Barangay Agwawan.

“Sorry nagdilim ang paningin ko, napalo ko anak natin ng dededahil maingay at umiyak,” she quoted her husband as saying to her.

She expressed doubt that husband used only a milk feeding bottle in hitting their baby.

“Sa likod malaki pasa, sa harapan maraming maliliit na parang bilog-bilog. Kung padede ginamit dapat malalaki lahat pasa dahil sa impact ng bote,” the wife said.

However, she described her husband as “sobrang bait at napakatahimik.”

While working in a factory here, Vitualla left the baby to the care of her husband.

She was in the factory Friday night when the incident happened.

“Inamin niya sa akin na siya may kasalanan sa nangyari sa anak namin kung bakit ito namatay dahil sabi ko sa kanya ayaw kong masaktan pa ang anak namin kung magkakaroon ng autopsy. Nakonsensiya ang asawa ko dahil ayaw daw din niyang masaktan kami ng anak ko,” Vitalla said.

“Unang salita ng asawa ko sa akin ‘sana mapatawad mo ako at ng anak ko’,” she said.

She said her husband also confessed to most members of her family while in the hospital.

“Ipakulong na raw siya dahil wala narin daw dahilan para mabuhay siya,” the wife said.

Princess Mae was the only child of the couple.

Nelda Estrada, 45, Vitualla’s mother, said her grandchild suffered numerous bruises.

She also expressed doubt that the suspect only used a feeding milk bottle in hitting the baby.

“Humingi siya ng tawad sa akin. Sana makulong na siya at mabitay,” the grandmother said when asked what she wanted done to her son in-law.

The suspect is now detained at the Mariveles municipal jail following his alleged admission to the crime.
