MORONG, Bataan — One picnicker was reported missing while two others were
rescued from drowning while bathing in a beach resort here Sunday afternoon.

Col. Romell Velasco, Bataan police director, said he received a report from the
Morong municipal police station that Rodel Coztuna, 20, was missing while those
rescued were Judilyn Mabag, 16 and Jeff Nobleza, 16, all residents of barangay
Catmon in Malabon City.

Report showed that the three were swimming in front of a beach resort when a
strong water current swept them away to the deep portion of the sea.

A banana boat operator saw the drowning victims and tried to help them but only
the two were rescued. The strong current took away Coztuna who sank into the
deep waters, the report said.

Those rescued were rushed to the Morong Rural Health Center.

Velasco said members of the Morong police station, the municipal disaster risk
reduction management office, maritime police and the Philippine Coast Guard
continued the search and rescue operation.
