BONGABON, Nueva Ecija – The Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas-Nueva Ecija Chapter partnered with several government agencies and civic groups for a massive tree-planting activity at the mountainous village of Calaanan this municipality on Tuesday.

KBP-NE chair Joy Galvez-Dominado said some 1,000 narra saplings were planted at National Greening Program site 300 meters above sea level on the eastern portion of Nueva Ecija.

The activity also spearheaded by the Departments of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of the Interior and Local Government, and the Department of Agriculture dubbed " Buhayin ang Pangangalaga sa Kalikasan" started with a motorcade from Freedom Park in Cabanatuan City, several kilometers away from this town.

Among the other government agencies at the event were Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office with representatives of police stations of Bongabon, Palayan City, Natividad, Rizal, Laur, Gabaldon, and San Leonardo; the provincial environment and natural resources office and the community environment and natural resources office of Muñoz; municipal environment and natural resources office and local government unit of Bongabon; the Army's 703 rd Agila Brigade, 301 CDC, 3RCDG, Arescom; and the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Several non-government agencies who also participated were Victory Cabanatuan and Bongabon, Rotary Club of Cabanatuan City, Inner Wheel Club of Cabanatuan, Soroptimist International of Metro Cabanatuan, Lawndale Finance Company, Inc., Kasanib sa Pag-abot ng Pangarap, Inc., Saraba Kabanatuan Alumni Association Inc., Philippine Statistics Authority-Nueva Ecija, Humanitarian Order of Sierra Falcones, Inc., Jocson Construction and Management Corp., and Anak ng Bongabon Foundation, among others.

“The heroes of KBP Oplan Broadcastreeing," Dominado said referring to the KBP's nationwide program which is now on its 11th year.

DILG provincial director  Ofelio Tactac and CENRO-South Nueva Ecija chief Artemio Almazan, Jr. underscored the importance of the activity in preserving the environment.
