CABANATUAN CITY – Local residents enjoyed low-priced basic commodities, particularly rice, as several government and private entities opened a one-day Kadiwa ng Pangulo store at the provincial Capitol compound in Burgos Ave., here Monday.
Dr. Richard Simangan, provincial director of Department of Trade and Industry in Nueva Ecija, said the Kadiwa store offered both food and non-food items.
“Isang programa po ito ng pangulo na sinusuportahan ng DTI,” Simangan said, adding that it was opened to farmers and small entrepreneurs to sell their respective products. “Inipon natin ‘yung ating mga farmers at mga micro-small enterprises para po mag-exhibit at magbenta ng kanilang mga murang produkto.”
“Pag sinabi nating mura hindi ito ‘yung karaniwan nating mabibili sa presyo doon sa labas so ‘yung mga farmers natin dito nagdala direct from the field,” he said.
Evangelina Bergano, a vendor from Tabacao, Talavera, Nueva Ecija offered her meat and poultry products at P10 per kilo lower than the market price. “May kita na rin ‘dun kahit paano.”
The National Food Authority-Nueva Ecija allocated 20 bags of rice sold at P25 a kilo that was made possible by government subsidy, said Annie Lacero of NFA branch quality assurance.
