GERONA, Tarlac (PIA) — The Bawat Bayan Makikinabang Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has reached a total of 2,100 beneficiaries in Gerona, Tarlac, with each recipient receiving 10 kilograms of rice.
Governor Christian Tell Yap said the rice distribution program caters to vulnerable sectors and families in need.
“Ito ang magandang programang naihatid ng ating minamahal na Presidente, dahil binibigyan natin ang mga senior citizens, single parents, yung mga transport sector na tinamaan ng crisis (This is one of the valuable programs delivered by our honorable President because we provide rice aid to senior citizens, single parents, and those in the transport sector who were affected by the crisis),” he stated.
The program aims to provide timely assistance to vulnerable communities by helping ease the impact of rising food prices while strengthening food security through coordinated efforts between the national and local governments.
Romeo Bacnis, one of the beneficiaries, expressed his gratitude to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the rice assistance program, emphasizing how it could benefit his family amid increasing prices of basic commodities.
“Mahal na President, maraming salamat sa inyong tulong dahil malaking tulong na po ito para sa aming mga mahihirap (Dear President, thank you very much for your help because this is a great help to us who are poor),” he shared.
In addition, to help sustain the livelihood of local farmers, Yap emphasized that the rice distributed came from local farmers and suppliers in the province.
“Karamihan ng mga bigas na pinamimigay natin ay galing sa mga magsasakang Tarlakenyo para buhay ang kanilang kabuhayan, mayroong merkado ang kanilang ani (Most of the rice we distribute comes from Tarlac farmers to help sustain their livelihood, provide a market for their harvest),” he highlighted.
Funded through the Local Government Support Fund, the initiative was implemented through the efforts of the Provincial Government of Tarlac in coordination with the Municipal Government of Gerona.
It is now on its first tranche in the province, marking the initial phase of the government’s effort to provide rice assistance to qualified beneficiaries and continue serving communities in need. (CLJD/CJGS, PIA Region 3-Tarlac GIP)
