IBA, Zambales – The principal suspect in the gruesome murder of a factory worker in Barangay Calapandayan, Subic town was killed in a shootout with police in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
Reports reaching Zambales provincial police director Col. Ponce Rogelio Peñones, Jr., said elements of Mabalacat City Police Station led by Lt. Col. Jerry B. Corpuz and Zambales PPO led by Lt. Col. Leonardo Madrid were serving a warrant of arrest against suspect Samuel Percian y Vergara when he opened fire at the police officers prompting them to fire back that resulted to his death.
Percian was tagged by police for robbing and stabbing 37 times Carmela “Melay” Catindig, a factory worker of Purok 4, Barangay Calapandayan, Subic on August 20, 2019. The victim was reported to have been raped too.
Police said Percian had a string of cases for robbing a Shell gas station in Angeles, Pampanga, a Western Union outlet in San Felipe, Zambales, and an LBC outlet in Olongapo City.
Scene of the crime operatives recovered a .38 revolver from the suspect.
