Once I told somebody I wrote local paper columns devoted mostly to messages from the Blessed Virgin Mary in her recent apparitions in various parts of the world. This somebody then remarked I probably had much to write on the Blessed Mother’s messages. I said, no… for who would rather read what I write than quotes from her?
There was this holy man who said that the Blessed Mother is not supposed to be studied but rather be loved.
Also, the Blessed Mother, unlike technical people, always speaks simply. So I said that if I had to write anything at all, it’s just to give some background on the verbatim messages of the Blessed Mother. For the most part, my columns are quotes. As this column is.
Last March 18, the Blessed Mother, in her annual apparition to Medjugorje visionary Mirjana, conveyed the following rather long message for us all:
“Dear children! As a mother, I desire to be of help to you. With my motherly love, I desire to help you to open your heart and to put my Son in the fi rst place in it. Through your love for my Son and through your prayer, I desire for God’s light to illuminate you and God’s mercy to fill you.
In this way, I desire for the darkness, and the shadow of death which wants to encompass and mislead you, to be driven away. I desire for you to feel the joy of the blessing of God’s promise. You, children of man, you are God’s children – you are my children.
Therefore, my children, set out on the ways on which my love leads you, teaches you humility and wisdom, and finds the way to the Heavenly Father. Pray with me for those who do not accept me and do not follow me – those who, because of hardness of their hearts, cannot feel the joy of humility, devotion, peace and love – the joy of my Son.
Pray that your shepherds, with their blessed hands, may always give you the joy of God’s blessing. Thank you.”
By the way, Mirjana was once physically embraced by the Blessed Mother. Two months before the Medjugorje apparitions started in June, 1981, Mirjana’s mother died. So one of the things she asked the Blessed Mother after the apparitions started was where her mother was, to which the Queen of Heaven replied” “She is with me.”
In a later apparition, Mirjana asked to be allowed to see her mother. The Blessed Mother said yes. Mirjana’s mother not only appeared to her, but she also walked towards her, embraced her, and remarked “I am so proud of you” before she vanished.
