But the mayor and her companion were reportedly unhurt in the incident save for some minor injuries sustained by her driver.
Reports said at about 7:30 in the morning on Monday, while the mayor and John Ray Ramil Feria, 23, administrative staff , were on their way to the municipal hall, two unidentified suspects armed with handguns block their way and fi red.
The mayor’s vehicle, a silver- gray Toyota Innova (SHW 625) driven by Raul Rosete y Fajotina, 50, sustained multiple gun shots. Four gun shots hit the left rear portion of the car and another at the driver’s side windshield shattering it.
Initial investigation disclosed that the two unidentifi ed suspects were riding in tandem on a green Kawasaki Fury motorcycle travelling towards Barangay Sindol.
Mayor Farinas and her staff were unhurt while Rosete sustained minor injuries on his face caused by debris from the broken windshield.
The suspects immediately fl ed after the incident heading in the northern direction. But they the suspects left motorcycle upon reaching Barangay Sindol and boarded a tricycle.
The tricycle driver John Cristopher Farinas, 18, and a resident of Barangay Sindol, said one of the suspects was about 5’5” to 5’ 7” in height, with a heavy built, wearing short pants and sando while the other suspect stands 5”2” to 5”4” in height, light build, wearing short pants and t-shirt. Both suspects are between 30 to 35 years old.
The suspects reportedly identified themselves as members of the New People’s Army (NPA) and shouted: “Huwag kang magsusumbong kung saan mo kami dinala, mga NPA kami (Don’t tell anyone where you brought us, we are NPA members),” then proceeded to the direction of Sitio Tikub in Barangay Maloma here.
Recovered from the crime scene were four pieces of empty shells of .45 caliber bullets and the motorcycle with plate number 7939 UY believed to be used by the suspects.
Police are still conducting follow-up investigation for the possible identification and apprehension of the suspects.
