ANGELES CITY – Kapampangans don’t need to travel all the way to Cabanatuan for their famous Edna’s Cakeland.

Known for their empanadas and ensaymadas, pasta dishes to chicken sandwiches, Edna’s Cakeland has finally opened its first branch outside Nueva Ecija here on Friday.

According to Edna’s Cakeland general manager Ana Margarita Gonzales, they wanted to bring their food closer to the Kapampangans as she also hopes to be part of the food community here.

“In the middle of the pandemic, I came here a lot. Nakita ko pa din na everyone was still interested in buying food, active pa din ang mga tao going to restaurants, so we tried our luck hoping na sana maging parte din kami ng food community dito sa Angeles,” said Gonzales.

Started in 1990 when her mom, Edna, was just baking in their kitchen, Edna’s Cakeland eventually expanded, having two more branches in SM Megacenter and SM Cabanatuan. It has now become Cabanatuan’s famous homegrown casual dining and go-to place for pasalubong.

Bringing in its traditional pink glee of a color, Gonzales said Edna’s Cakeland will always give its homelike concept to all its branches as the newest branch is a replication of its main branch in Cabanatuan.

Thoroughly involved with the process to ensure quality, Gonzales also shared that all their recipes are from her mother’s which she still continuously improves. Their breads, cakes, and pastries are baked in their kitchen commissary daily for freshness.

“Our cakes, we bake it in Cabanatuan but we add the icing here. But yung ibang cakes na on the day like birthday cakes, dito na namin binebake. Tapos yung mga cheese rolls and ensaymadas baked in our commissary overnight since we bake fresh everyday,” said Gonzales

Gonzales said she feels grateful to know that a lot of Kapampangans are looking forward to their opening and said they also plan to expand and put up another branch in San Fernando, as well as Bulacan and Manila.

Located along Sto. Rosario St. across Carmelite Monastery, Edna’s Cakeland is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
