CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The specific instruction of Gov. Lilia Pineda to the Mutya Ning Kapampangan 2012 committee to have all the cities and towns represented has been realized.
Board Member Olga Frances “Fritzie” Dizon, pageant chairperson, announced on Monday that all of Pampanga’s 19 towns and three cities will each have a representative in the yearly contest known as a breeding ground of talents for commercial and ramp modelling, top international and national beauty contests and showbiz.
“What’s important for the governor is that camaraderie and the feeling that everyone belongs are met.
As head of the committee, I also share the desire of the governor to make the contest completely representative of all LGUs,” said David-Dizon, who also thanked other members of the committee, including provincial tourism officer Arwin Lingat.
2010 Mutya Ning Kapampangan Ritz Azul of Sta. Rita town joined ABC Channel 5 and is now the cover girl of leading men’s magazine FHM.
Last year’s winner, Kimberly Wijangco of Mabalacat, also made it to the cover page of Pampanga Pep magazine and is an endorser of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) passport service in the province.
The yet to be named Mutya Ning San Simon town is expected to join the activities and practices of other candidates this week, said David-Dizon.
She said the fourth district town held its own beauty contest on November 25 and the winner will be its representative, completing the contestants two weeks before the coronation night on December 10.
Meanwhile, the Smart Group, which has over 46 million subscribers, and the Henry Sy-owned malls in Pampanga are giving their all-out support to the beauty tilt, organizers said.
David-Dizon said her initial meetings with Jose “Wo” Rosete, manager of Smart’s Public Affairs Department, “was not just successful but we all felt the genuine concern and generosity of the people behind the top wireless company in the country.”
“Special thanks to MVP for his consistent support to his provincemates and the Pampanga government,” said David-Dizon, referring to Smart Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan of Apalit, Pampanga who was the special guest and speaker of last year’s week-long Pampanga founding anniversary celebrations.
The celebrations for the 441st founding anniversary will start on December 4.
David-Dizon said that Sun Cellular, which was purchased by Pangilinan this year, will also be one of the major sponsors of the event.
Arwin Lingat, Pampanga tourism officer, disclosed that the SM supermalls in Angeles City and in this capital city will host various events lined-up for the contest and anniversary celebration.

He said the swimming suit competition will be held at the SM City San Fernando Downtown on December 4, while the pre-pageant will be at the Event Centre of SM City Clark on December 7. The coronation night is on December 10 at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.
The organizers said there will also be activities at the SM City Pampanga and the Savemore Supermarket in Apalit related to the week-long activities. They added that the 22 contestants will have a tour at the Ayala-owned Marquee Mall in Angeles City.
Fontana Leisure Parks, one of the top tourism destinations at the Clark Freeport, is also a major sponsor of the event.
“Several others were very supportive of our annual contest showcasing the genuine beauty of Pampanga women. Small help were appreciated just as much as the big ones. It’s not the amount but the thought and concern that count,” said David-Dizon.
