CABANATUAN CITY – Barely a week after Marife Cajife, 27, was freed on bail for charges of illegal possession of suspected shabu, she was again locked in jail for allegations of greater offense – now with selling – after being caught with sachets of the prohibited substance and marked money right inside the compound of the city police
office here before dawn on Monday, police said Wednesday.

Also arrested with Cajife, a resident of Barangay Soledad, Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija were her driver, Frits Sy, 27, of Barangay Melojavilla and mechanic Guiller Bautista of Barangay Bitas, both of this city. Bautista and Sy reportedly yielded once sachet of shabu each.

Supt. Pedro Soliba, city police chief, said Cajife and her companions were arrested in a buy-bust operation at
about 1:30 a.m. by operatives from the police drug enforcement unit while about to deliver the illegal drugs to the
city detention cell where her boyfriend, identified as Christopher So, is detained on charges of drug pushing.

Soliba said Cajife was first arrested on January 17 for illegal possession and managed to post bail after about one week. “And now she tried to sell shabu here,” Soliba said. “But if she is wise, our policemen are wiser, we got the intelligence input that she is bringing in illegal drugs here,” Soliba said.

But Cajife, admitting she uses the illegal drugs, refused to confirm or deny possession of the drugs. “Sa kotse ko nakuha ng mga pulis ‘yan,” she said, referring to shabu. She said she was to visit So when the operation against her was made by the operatives.

She said she posted bail of P42,500 for her temporary liberty in connection with Jan. 17 arrest but her boyfriend was also nabbed a few days after. Bautista and Sy, on the other hand, also admitted using illegal drugs but said they never sell them.

Soliba said Cajife faces charges of illegal possession and selling while Bautista and Cajife are charged with illegal possession.
