Abet is seeking another term as congressman of the second district while his younger brother Joet is running for mayor of the component city for the second term. Another Garcia sibling, Gila, is running for congressman in the first district.
They started the day with a mass at the St. Joseph Cathedral in Balanga. Then they held a short program at the city plaza adjacent to the church. Green balloons adorn the plaza like the color of their jackets.
The green color shows the group’s support for administration candidate for President Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro and his running mate Edu Manzano.
They anchored their campaign platform on “performance at hindi paninira ang kailangan ng ating bayan.”
Supporters joined the Garcias and company in a Mass at the Plaza Mayor de Balanga.
On the other hand, their political opponents preferred to join Liberal Party Presidential bet Noynoy Aquino in the senator’s caravan from Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Samal and Balanga City.
Dinalupihan Mayor Joel Payumo and his uncle, former chairman Felicito Payumo of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority were also with Aquino. He is not seeking any elective position.
Defense Sec. Norberto Gonzales’ daughter, lawyer Marie, is fighting Abet Garcia in the congressional race in Bataan’s second district while Gila Garcia faces re-electionist Rep. Herminia Roman in the first district. Former Mayor Melanio Banzon fights Mayor Joet Garcia in Balanga.
