CONCEPCION, Tarlac (PIA) — A total of 1,204 residents from Concepcion, Tarlac received P2,000 each in cash assistance during the launch of the government’s Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) program.
The beneficiaries belong to the program’s Group 2 category, which covers poor and near-poor households identified through the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System that are not covered by the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and the Walang Gutom Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Among the beneficiaries is Christian Robert Dela Cruz, who said the cash assistance will help cover his family’s daily expenses, including his children’s school allowances and household food needs.
“Malaking bagay na po ito para sa mga bata, pambaon, pambili ng mga pagkain sa bahay (This is already a big help for the kids, for their allowance and for buying food for the household),” he shared.
Meanwhile, beneficiary Maricel Manalo expressed a similar view, saying that the assistance will be used to buy food and help cover her children’s daily allowances
Dela Cruz and Manalo both expressed their gratitude to DSWD and the government for extending financial assistance to families facing economic challenges.
The UPLIFT program is being implemented under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to help maintain the purchasing power of vulnerable households amid rising fuel costs and increasing prices of basic commodities.
Following the initial payout, beneficiaries will continue to receive P2,000 monthly until December this year.
Future assistance will be distributed through bank accounts, e-wallets, and other authorized digital payment channels to ensure faster and more convenient transactions for recipients. (CLJD/AJRR, PIA Region 3-Tarlac)
