“HER CONTRIBUTIONS, especially in the aftermath of the Mt. Pinatubo eruptions, have significantly contributed to the rehabilitation of Pampanga... made possible the recovery of the province from the devastation...”
So hailed Gov. Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda of Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, in her position as then Senator of the Republic.
“Through her efforts and stewardship, billions of pesos were poured into the construction of lahar-mitigation projects and other infrastructure interventions in Porac and other affected towns of the province,” the governor furthered. Bringing to mind there,
And, even more, much more came to the province when Pampanga’s favorite daughter became President, Pineda hailed. Bringing to mind there the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, the rehabilitation of the Gapan-San Fernando-Olongapo Road, the billion-peso flood-mitigating projects all around Pampanga, to name a few.
Just before the end of her term, Pineda disclosed, President Macapagal-Arroyo allotted P100 million for the purchase of ambulance units, repair and improvement of public hospitals, including provision of other health services in the province.
“This budget would enable us to realize our priority programs and projects in the province especially in terms of improving the services of our public hospitals and providing for the health needs of our constituents,” Pineda said.
“Now that she is in Congress, (Macapagal-Arroyo) would be of even greater help and assistance to our province,” Pineda said as she enjoined the Capitol officials and employees to continuously pray for Arroyo’s good health.
The thunderous applause at Monday’s flag-raising ceremony for the former president – in attendance – is manifestation of the appreciation by her cabalens of her service, of her enduring endearment in the hearts of her people.
No matter how she is held elsewhere.
