Bukol
Mar 01, 2010
A BIG lump on the head of the Angeles City Police Office – bukol, as their own argot puts it – is the arrest of two of its members in a drug buy-bust dragnet in Barangay Dau, Mabalacat town middle of last week.
The two cops and their two cohorts, a non-uniformed employee of the police and a detainee (!), were caught red-handed by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 3 (PDEA-3) in the act of dealing 40 grams of shabu with a street value of some P300,000.
Even as the identities of the arrested cops have not been revealed – they are assigned at ACPO Station 6, right at the side of Angeles University Foundation – Chief Supt. Leon Nilo de la Cruz, Central Luzon police director, was reported to have ordered the initiation of summary dismissal proceedings against them, on top of the criminal cases the suspects now face.
Rightly so, law enforcers being law breakers demand the harshest treatment. Then, the proximity of a university to the place of assignment of these cops involved in drugs raises the worst nightmare for parents and teachers. And what business but of the monkey kind has a detainee outside his cell?
General De la Cruz, Sir, don’t just fire ‘em rogue cops. Fry them.
