Loser’s ululation

Feb 26, 2010

THE AXIS of evil. That is the sangguniang panlalawigan, recount winner Lilia Pineda, the Commission on Elections and Malacanang to the recounted-out-but-still-sitting Gov. Eddie T. Panlilio and his fanatical zealots.

“In 2007, we witnessed how the forces of evil summoned all resources at their command to thwart the Kapampangan’s will for change. Today, three months before the synchronized national and local elections, the Comelec decides to rob the Kapampangans of their 2007 victory. This midnight decision is obviously a devious handiwork of those in power. They will do everything to seize power to ensure that they perpetuate themselves in power. Sadly, it is power unduly earned. It is power that does not emanate from the people.” So press released Panlilio’s minions in the wake of the Comelec resolution unseating as governor.

What they lack in numbers, Panlilio’s myrmidons most surely compensate for in verbiage. It is best to leave them to their wailing and gnashing of their teeth.

The SP however would not just rest in peace over Panlilio’s wailing.

“We condemn the actuations and utterances of Governor Eddie Panlilio and his camp as un-Christian.” So went a declaration from the SP.

And led further to ad hominems: “The statements were uncalled for and without basis. Who support him but us? Who approved the budget and development fund he requested in 2007? And his requests in 2008? Same thing in 2009. Wasn’t it this august body that approved them and which led to the many accomplishments he is boasting of right now?”

By responding to Panlilio’s wild ranting – by making patol,  to use Kris Aquino language – the SP is dignifying what ought to be ridiculed.

Panlilio is clearly grasping for straws. Demonizing everyone in a vain bid to avert the inevitable. No, we are not talking recount here, having already consigned the current term of office to history’s dustbin. We are saying 2010 here.

Really, it is best to leave the loser to his ululations. Like we go way out of the way of a mad dog braying at the moon.
