Village chief to Nepo: ‘Be true to your word’

ANGELES CITY – “Be true to your word for the sake of barangay folk.”
Thus said yesterday Salapungan Village Chief Robert Yeen urging Mayor Francis “Blueboy” Nepomuceno to implement his promise to provide P1 million worth of infrastructure projects in each of the 33 barangays here.
“I am appealing to the city mayor to make true his promise during the September 27, 2008 meeting with us,” said Yeen, referring to the Local Development Council meeting in Baguio City attended by village chiefs and city government officials.
“This has been disseminated to our constituents and they are asking its status,” he added.
Yeen said many villages need day care centers and health centers to respond to the needs of the city’s growing population.
City Administrator Mark Allen Sison, in a text message, said “we did (implement the projects), more than P1 million each for projects per village.”
But Yeen said “not a thing had been done in their village.”
Sison said “all the 33 barangays were given, but the implementation will be staggered and not at the same time.”
In interviews with residents, they said “the mayor should set aside political inclinations when creating infra projects.” They added that “the taxes belong to the people and they must benefit them primarily.”
