‘Balik Eskwela Diskwento Caravan’ in Bataan earns P 2.5 million

BALANGA CITY – Some P 2 million worth of products of mostly school supplies and prime commodities were sold during the three-day “Balik Eskwela Diskwento Caravan” held here recently.

The fair, held from May 16 to 18 at the Plaza Mayor here, was organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bataan provincial offi ce in coordination with the city government and the Balanga CityTourism Council. The DTI said the activity aimed to provide affordable commodities especially in time for the opening of schools.

The fair was participated by 102 sellers, composed of 28 sellers of shoes, dry goods, native products/souvenir items and bags) by nine victims of a recent fi re incident; 25 suppliers/distributors    of basic and   prime commodities, school supplies and school uniforms and 40 DTI-assisted MSMEs.

Ten percent discounts and more were offered to about 6,500 buyers with a total sales value of P 2,508,468.85.

The ribbon cutting and opening ceremonies were attended by Raquel D. Garcia, chairperson of the Balanga City Tourism Council; DTI OIC-provincial director Nelin O. Cabahug and Division Chief Connie B. Sanico; as well as officers and members of the Federation of Consumer Organizations in Bataan (FECOB), and Department Heads of Balanga City.
