KAPAMPANGAN TILLERS of the soil received a big boost last week through the provincial government. Some P22 million in assistance were distributed by the Capitol in support of farmers adversely affected by typhoons since 2015.

Coming from the World Bank-funded Philippine Rural Development Project (PDRP), the assistance consisting of certified seeds, tractors and planting implements were received by 22 farmer cooperatives.

Eleven other cooperatives are set to receive P10.825 million worth of the same assistance from the program being implemented by the Department of Agriculture.

PDRP deputy director for the Northern Luzon Cluster Elma Mananes hailed Gov. Lilia G. Pineda and Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda for “giving topmost priority to agriculture development” and committing a counterpart funding of P4.2 million for the project.
