‘Misogyny and fascism terribly rolled in one’

Feb 15, 2018

“DUTERTE’S LATEST nasty remark openly encourages violence against women, contributes to the impunity on such, and further confi rms himself as the most dangerous macho-fascist in the government right now. He has further presented himself as the epitome of misogyny and fascism terribly rolled in one.”

So, declared Gabriela Women’s Party Rep. Emmi de Jesus in the wake of President Duterte’s latest anti-women remark of ordering soldiers to shoot female New People’s Army rebels in the vagina.

“He is pushing the fascist Armed Forced of the Philippines to commit more bloody human rights violations and grave abuses of international humanitarian law, and takes state terrorism against women and the people to a whole new level,” furthered De Jesus. To a new abysmal low, if that were left for us to put.

Given that the “military is escalating its war offensives and red-tagging across the country on supposed enemies of the government,” Duterte’s blab should not go uncontested, the solon said.

Given their adverse impact to the national psyche, indeed to the perversion of the moral values of our people, Duterte’s diatribes against women should – as a matter of patriotic duty – decried, denounced, damned.

On March 8, in commemoration of the International Women’s Day, women from various sectors are expected to rise by the thousands to give Duterte a grand condemnation in a huge protest against his tyranny against the poor and women.

Women, unite. Speak up. Rise against fascism. Resist tyranny. Unite for justice and peace.
