CLARK FREEPORT -- Troopers from the Armed Forces Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) tracked down last Sunday a marijuana plantation in a remote and forested area of Chumanchil in Barangay Loccong in Tinglaya, Kaliga.

Nolcom said that earlier, PDEA coordinated with the 50th Infantry Battalion (50IB) of the 5th Infantry Division (5ID) of the Army for its mission to locate the plantation amid reports that it had been a source of marijuana being distributed in the Cordillera region.

It said that the joint operation, which was backed up by the Kalinga provincial police and the Tinglayan local government, led to the plantation where they discovered at least 100 square meters of six-foot tall marijuana plants ready for harvest. Marijuana seedlings were also found at the site.

Nolcom said the plants were uprooted and burned at the site. No one was arrested during the operation, although some suspects, who were not identifi ed, were being monitored, it added.
