SM holiday cheer for Aeta kids

Jan 09, 2018

IT’S BEEN a yearly tradition of SM employees to spend quality time with less fortunate kids. This happens before the year ends wherein SM volunteers give simple gifts, play games with kids, feed them and make the moment memorable.

“Seeing these kids smile and laugh make our hearts big, you can never replace the joy it brings to them,” says one SM volunteer. Everyday can be an opportunity to bless others in small ways. SM’s ChriSMiles is an annual “Share Your Blessings” activity of employees through the SM Cares program that helps extend the joy of Christmas and touch the lives of those in need.

This year, SM City Olongapo volunteers welcomed Aeta kids from Iram Resettlement Area of New Cabalan in coordination with barangay officials and IP community.

Happy as always, these kids again showed their talent in dancing through tribal and modern dance number.

“We’re happy to see these kids enjoy the program, nagpapasalamat kami sa SM sana wag kayong magsawang magbigay saya sa ating mga katutubong Aeta,” remarked Ruth Janelle Alagon, Brgy. New Cabalan coordinator.

Meanwhile, part of the program was the turnover of “Bears of Joy” to the chosen beneficiaries. Six Hundred bears went to kids of Iram, Brgy. New Cabalan The “Bears of Joy” project offers two bears for P200, one bear for the buyer and another to a child in need.
