Pampanga Day to highlight Kapampangan heirloom recipes

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Kapampangan heirloom recipes as well as original cuisines of renowned Kapampangan chefs will be featured in the month-long Pampanga Day celebration in December.

Gov. Lilia “Nanay Baby” G. Pineda said on Monday that part of the festivities of the Pampanga Day celebration in December will feature the original cuisines of renowned Kapampangan chefs as well as Kapampangan heirloom recipes that they will prepare.

Among those who will be invited are renowned chefs Lilian Borromeo, Sau Del Rosario, Emelita W. Galang and Claude Tayag among others as well as the original fares of Everybody’s Café, Rainforest, Denlim’s Kitchen Restaurant, Aling Lucing, and Mila’s.

Pineda said the culinary fare event, where there will be no other cooks except the chefs, is set at the Parade Grounds at the Clark Freeport Zone on December 2 and 3.

To compliment the celebration, the Aqua Planet, which is set to open on October 24, and the Fontana Water Park at the CFZ will also be featured as destinations for the visitors and tourists to enjoy.

The governor also said a parade and display of “Vintage Cars” from the 1940s to the 1960s will be held at the Pradera Verde in Lubao during the Pampanga Day celebrations.

Meanwhile, Pineda said an exhibition of the famous giant lanterns of Pampanga will highlight the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit next month. Pineda said she was asked by Malacañang to provide the giant lanterns which have become symbols of Kapampangan artistry.

Pampanga, distinguished as the oldest province in the country, will be observing its 446st foundation known as “Aldo Ning Kapampangan” on December 11 which is a special non-working holiday in the province by virtue of Proclamation No. 2226.

The province was founded on December 11, 1571.
