FIVE MAYORS, two members of the House of Representatives and one vice governor in Central Luzon are in the narco list of the Philippine National Police.

So, announced outgoing Police Regional Office-Central Luzon director and incoming Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency head Chief Supt. Aaron Aquino on Tuesday during a brief conference with PNP Director General Ronald dela Rosa.

The euphoria over his being named PDEA director on nationwide television by no less than President Duterte himself only the past two days could have stirred Aquino’s announcement. In effect, setting a definitive course for his new assignment and at the same time reminding one and all that he still has Central Luzon in his grips.

Nothing wrong with that. The guy’s just excited.

However, when mediamen asked Aquino to identify the mayors, congressmen and vice governor he marked as narco-listed, he shut his mouth as these are still “being monitored and under validation by the intelligence division of the PNP.”

Under validation pa, and already listed. Now every mayor, congressman and vice governor in the region is suspect.

Too bad Aquino did not come from the navy, else, he would be familiar – and, readily, would abide by – that truism of ships being sunk by loose lips.
