Jun 15, 2017

THE FIRST batch of grantees under the City Government of San Fernando’s Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) received their salaries on June 12 after completing their 22 days of service in different offices and departments in the City Hall.

Public Employment and Services Office Manager Donny Sayre said a total of 237 beneficiaries received P9, 460 each.

“This amount is very helpful to the students as it will be used for their school expenses. We encourage our Fernandino youth to grab the opportunities given to them by the government,” Sayre added.

In an interview, Mayor Edwin “Edsa” Santiago assured that the students also learned a lot especially in the field of public service.

He added that the program prepares students to be job-ready by providing them essential seminars and trainings.

“Our SPES grantees are now ready to face the real world because of the experiences they have. I hope that they will apply all these once they get employed.” Santiago said.
