May 18, 2017

THE Schools Division of Mabalacat City calls for volunteers as the annual school maintenance activity of the Department of Education (DepEd) coined as Brigada Eskwela kicked off on Monday, May 15.

Based on DepEd Memorandum No. 43 released on March 9, the Brigada Eskwela is the National Schools’ Maintenance Week that aims to bring together all education stakeholders to participate and contribute their time, effort and resources to prepare public school facilities for the opening of school year in June 5.

This year’s theme is “Isang DepEd, Isang Pamayanan, Isang Bayanihan, Para sa Handa at Ligtas na Paaralan” which will run from May 15 to May 20.

“Lahat po ng sektor ng lipunan ay inaanyayahang makiisa sa Brigada Eskwela 2017,” Officer-in-charge Superintendent Dr. Ma. Irelyn P. Tamayo said.

A motorcade kicked off along McArthur Highway and was followed by the opening ceremony led by City Mayor Marino Morales at Madapdap Resettlement High School, Madapdap.

Joining Morales are the CSDM personnel, Barangay Madapdap Chairman Javier Taruc and Council, parents and other volunteers.

To give due recognition, the Best Brigada Eskwela Implementing School is being awarded to exemplary schools both elementary and secondary level.

With this, Mabalacat Elementary School in Barangay Poblacion was hailed Best Implementer under the Exceptional School Category (Division Level) for the Brigada Eskwela 2016.

According to Tamayo, the teacher-student ratio is sufficient to cater more than 30,000 elementary pupils and 16,000 high schools students this school year 2017- 2018.
