PEOPLE are asking if Lorin Bektas Gutierrez, daughter of actress/former beauty queen Ruffa Gutierrez is interested in joining a beauty contest?

Some people have actually predicted that she will likely follow in her mom’s footsteps.

The actress was crowned as second princess at the Miss World pageant in 1993.

And if ever Lorin eventually decides to join, her mom will tell her this: “Enter the beauty pageant world with the right mindset.

“Why would she want to join? Hindi lang dahil ay, you know, pampaganda, gano’n.

“It’s really to represent the country and to be an inspiration to the women all over the world.”

But Ruffa admitted she has not really given it much thought. Even Lorin has not shown interest.

“Wala pa, wala pa. I think she’s too young pa, wala pa talaga sa utak niya. She’s thinking more about college. “Happy ako na gano’n.”

Ruff a hopes that Lorin will prioritize getting a college diploma and becoming successful in whatever profession she chooses.

The former Binibining Pilipinas-World added, “Saka na-notice niyo yung mga beauty queens ngayon, they’re much older?

“Ako nung sumabak ako sa Miss Philippines, I was only 18. Miss Philippines ako nung 18. Nag-Look of the Year ako nung 17. And then nag-Miss World ako nung 19.

“Ngayon, yung mga beauty queens, they’re 22, 23, 24, so marami pang time para mag-aral, para maging more mature, para mahasa sila.”

Didn’t Ruffa have regrets about joining at a young age?

“Walang pagsisisi sa akin, I think, that’s the time I had, that’s the time God gave me.

“Now kasi, the women are more gogetter so gusto nila talagang makatapos muna ng pag-aaral nila.

“Nakita niyo naman yung mga beauty queens ngayon, may mga pipi na gustong sumali, you now what I mean?

“It’s a wide range of different women of all shapes, colors, and sizes, right?”

And it’s no longer just about beauty. It’s about being a standout. She ended,

“Wala na siyang pinipili na ‘Ay beauty queen, maganda siya, matangad, ay sali ka na.’
