Olongapo Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. reaffirmed the city government’s full support for programs that promote the welfare of children and their protection from various forms of abuse.
Gordon addressed the opening of the consultation and workshop on the Protocols on Case Management of Child Victims of Abuse and Exploitation and on Comprehensive Program for Child Protection conducted by the Department of Justice’s Committee for the Special Protection of Children (SCPC) and the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council (JJWC).
Taking note that Olongapo has been awarded several times as “Most Child Friendly City”, Gordon stressed that “all our efforts at improving the quality of life in our city are not really for us grown-ups anymore but for the benefit of our children and our children’s children.”
The city government sent four social workers and four barangay tanods to the three-day consultation workshop at the Bayfront Hotel in Subic Bay Freeport.
