HERMOSA, Bataan – Eight-year old Diether Felicitas once dreamt of working abroad to help his family.
“Gusto niyang makapunta sa ibang bansa upang matulungan daw kami na makaahon sa kahirapan,” the kid’s mother said of her son’s dream.
Diether, a Grade 2 student however could no longer pursue his desire to help his poor parents and five siblings.
A fisherman found him dead, floating at the big Bamban River, Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Supt. Arnold Gunnacao, Bataan police director, said that the kid while swimming with two classmates slipped from a stone and fell, sank in the water more than 20 feet deep. The companions allegedly did not report the matter for fear that they will be scolded.
Soledad Felicitas said a teacher informed her that his son with other children was told to go home Monday morning.
She said that she waited for the boy the whole day and night of Monday until receiving a report Tuesday afternoon that her child was dead.
Diether was the fourth child from six children of a poor couple engaged in farming in barangay Bamban, Hermosa, Bataan.
