A tale of 2 hospitals

MONDAY, January 16, Gov. Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda inaugurated the Ricardo P. Rodriguez Memorial District Hospital in Bacolor town.

The construction of the 25-bed capacity hospital started during the heydays yet of the still – in the 2nd district of Pampanga, at least – lamented Macapagal-Arroyo administration.

Its funding, totalling P52 million in two tranches – the first at P25 million, the second at P27 million – drawn from the countryside development fund (CDF) of 3rd District Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales.

Additional funding of some P4 million was provided by the provincial government to complete the hospital.

The previous Monday, January 9, Governor Pineda inaugurated the Dr. Andres Luciano District Hospital, formerly known as Balitucan District Hospital, in Magalang town.

The construction of the 50-bed capacity hospital started last year. Its funding totalling P30 million was provided by the provincial government.

An attached  birthing station was also constructed at the cost of P5 million, also coming from the provincial government.

A total of P56 million spent for the 25-bed capacity district hospital in Bacolor.

A total of P30 million spent for the 50-bed capacity district hospital in Magalang.

Comparisons are always odious. Indeed, specially when they spawn malicious imputations of mischief.
